Your Patient-Centered Medical Home.
Choosing a Patient Centered Medical Home for your child’s care means that you will be surrounded by a dedicated team of health professionals, working together with you, to optimize your child’s health goals using evidence-based guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatrics, CDC and State of Mississippi. We will empower you to take responsibility for your child’s health and give you the self-management support that you need to succeed.
Adapted from the AHRQ definition, the PCPCC describes the medical home as an approach to the delivery of primary care that is:
-
A partnership among practitioners, patients, and their families ensures that decisions respect patients’ wants, needs, and preferences, and that patients have the education and support they need to make decisions and participate in their own care.
-
A team of care providers is wholly accountable for a patient’s physical and mental health care needs, including prevention and wellness, acute care, and chronic care.
-
Care is organized across all elements of the broader health care system, including specialty care, hospitals, home health care, community services and supports.
-
Patients are able to access services with shorter waiting times, "after hours" care, 24/7 electronic or telephone access, and strong communication through health IT innovations.
-
Clinicians and staff enhance quality improvement to ensure that patients and families make informed decisions about their health.
Our Services
-
Same-Day Sick Appointments
We offer same-day sick appointments and daily walk-in hours. These make it easier to receive care when your child needs it. We provide quality care for illness and injury including fever, flu, strep throat, asthma exacerbation, burns, colds, conjunctivitis (pink eye), ear infections, respiratory infections, headaches, vomiting/diarrhea, injuries, rashes and more.
-
Routine Check-Ups and Immunizations
The preventive care visit is an opportunity to ask questions about overall health, nutrition, development, and behavior. Immunizations are an essential part of well-child care. We recommend routine childhood vaccines and the annual flu vaccine. Mississippi schools require booster vaccines for kindergarten and seventh grade entry.
-
Sports Physicals
If your child had a physical with us in the past year, we can fill out the necessary paperwork without an appointment. If your child has not had a routine check-up, one of our providers will be happy to see your child for his or her physical.
-
Mental Health Services
We offer quality care and treatment for your child’s mental health needs. We provide diagnosis, treatment and medication management. Our treatment involves coordinating care with your child’s existing healthcare plan at our clinic. We provide care for common needs such as ADHD, anxiety, autism, depression, oppositional defiant disorder.
-
Prenatal Consultations
Many of our patient relationships begin before birth with our free prenatal consultations.
-
Post-Delivery Baby Checkup
When you deliver at Baptist Oxford, list Lafayette Pediatric Clinic as your pediatrician and we’ll schedule a newborn check in within two to three days of discharge.
-
Lactation Support
Breastfeeding is a big commitment, and it certainly doesn’t come with an instruction manual. Breastfeeding is different for every mom and child. We're proud to offer comprehensive lactation support services right in our clinic. We believe breastfeeding support begins during pregnancy, with knowledgeable physicians, opportunities for education and continued care for your baby. We are experts on nutrition, and we’ll guide you through the best nutritional support for your baby–breastmilk and beyond.
-
Vaccines
Lafayette Pediatric Clinic firmly believes in the safety and effectiveness of vaccines in preventing serious illnesses in your child and the children around them. In fact, we consider vaccination to be the single most important medical procedure we perform. We administer vaccines (which are covered by most major medical insurance plans) during routine checkups and nurse visits.
